Gem Hunt: Maths & Spelling

Sweep the detector, dig where it glows, and answer a question to keep what you find. Ten areas to explore and nineteen gems to collect — with maths and spelling that quietly follow how your child is actually doing.

How it works

Questions that follow the child

A grown-up picks an age group once. After that the game moves on its own: three right in a row and it steps up, two wrong and it eases back. Your child is never told they are on a level.

A wrong answer still keeps the gem

There is no punishment loop. Get it wrong, keep the gem anyway, score a little less, and get an easier question next time. Children who are behind do not get buried.

No timers anywhere

Nothing counts down. Time pressure punishes exactly the children this game is for.

Built to be readable

A dyslexia friendly font you can switch on, gems that differ by shape as well as colour, and big targets for small fingers.

Up to four children

Each with their own progress, their own collection and their own difficulty. One device, one purchase, the whole family.

Australian curriculum

Maths and English mapped to Foundation through Year 5, from first letter sounds and counting to fractions, area and figurative language.

What it costs

Levels 1 to 3 are free, here and in the app. One optional purchase unlocks levels 4 to 10 for everyone on the device — no subscription, no in-game currency, no second purchase later. It sits behind a maths gate a young child cannot pass.

The browser version is a free trial. The full game lives in the app, because that is the version that works with no internet at all.

For grown-ups

Gem Hunt collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics of any kind, and the app makes no network requests — on Android it is not even granted permission to use the internet. Profiles and scores are saved on the device, and you can export or delete all of it from the Grown-ups area at any time.
